Tree Removal Cost in Knoxville
What affects the price of taking down a tree, using national estimates as a starting point, and how to get a real number for your yard.
This site connects homeowners with an independent local tree service provider. KnoxTreeRemoval.com is not a tree service company.
National estimates (not Knoxville quotes)
Please note: the figures below are national averages published by home-improvement sites. They are not Knoxville prices and not quotes. Your cost could be higher or lower.
Bars show each source's typical national range on a $0–$2,500 scale; the amber mark is the national average.
The two averages differ because each source uses its own data and assumptions. Treat them as a rough idea of the ballpark, not a price for your tree.
What drives the cost
Size of the tree
Taller trees with wide trunks take more time, more equipment and more crew. Height is usually the biggest single factor.
Location near structures
A tree in an open yard can often be felled in one piece. A tree next to a house, garage, fence or power line has to be taken down in sections, which takes longer.
Condition of the tree
Dead, rotten, split or storm-damaged trees can be unpredictable to cut, and that extra care can raise the price.
Access
Backyards behind fences, steep slopes and tight spaces can keep a bucket truck or crane out, meaning more climbing and hand work.
Stump removal
Stump grinding is often priced separately from the removal. Ask whether it's included and whether the grindings are hauled away.
Emergency work
After a storm, a tree on a roof or blocking a driveway may need same-day or after-hours help, which usually costs more than a scheduled job.
Other things that can change the price: hauling away logs and branches, cutting the wood into firewood lengths, and how many trees are done in one visit. Need just the stump? See stump grinding.
Get a real number for your tree
National averages only go so far. Send the form, and a local provider may reach out to look at your tree and tell you what it will actually cost, with no obligation.
When you get an estimate, ask:
- Is cleanup and hauling included?
- Is stump grinding included, or extra?
- Can I see proof of liability insurance?
- Can I get the estimate in writing?
